The township of Lilydale courthouse (left) also served      as school, meeting place, and landmark for community  residents all the way into the 1970's.

Nineteenth Century levees (right) jutting out from Lilydale area helped deepen the Mississippi River channel for passing steamboats and lumber rafts being floated downstream to Saint Paul and beyond.
